Part of the Libertarian Party of Morgan County's mission is to promote "inclusive communication with the public and accountability for our officials". As such we have compiled the information into these Special Reports so the public can review the facts of these events for themselves. The Failed Indiana American Water Company Takeover

On August 7th, 2012 the Mooresville Town Council held a public hearing regarding the consideration of an ordinance establishing a municipally owned water company. Three days later on Friday August 10th at 3:30 in the afternoon that ordinance was approved at a special meeting. Later that same year the town council voted to authorize eminent domain against IAWC at another special meeting, this time at 9:00 am on Christmas Eve. The attempted takeover lasted more than two years.

The Gateway Project

The Gateway Project was first presented to the Town Council on April 1st, 2014. On August 19th, 2014 the Mooresville Town Council voted 5-0 to pass "Rosolution 11" which authorized the issuance of a $12,000,000 municipal bond for the purpose of the "Gateway Project". A "Gateway Master Plan" was presented to the public in March of 2014.

Kohl welcomes Elliott to BZA

The Martinsville Board of Zoning Appeals will have a new member when it meets next Tuesday after Martinsville Mayor Shannon Kohl swore in Anna Elliott in the mayorís office on Tuesday.

Elliott has a background in realty, currently working Keller Williams and currently serves as the treasurer for the Libertarian Party of Morgan County.


Party plays poker: Libertarian Party hosts Texas Hold 'em Tournament

On July 13, the Libertarian Party of Morgan County held a Texas Hold Ďem Poker Tournament fundraiser at the Presidentís Corner building in Martinsville. Players got to compete for hundreds of dollars in prizes, all while getting to know members of the Morgan County Libertarian Party as well as several more prominent Libertarians, including state vice chair Erin Meadors, state chair Tim Maguire and Bill Levin, who recently announced his intention to seek the Libertarian nomination for governor in 2020.

County Libertarians hold convention

The Libertarian Party of Morgan County held itís annual party convention on Tuesday evening at the Mooresville Public Library. At the convention, the party elected officers and discussed fundraising and outreach events. Guest speaker Erin Meadors from the Libertarian Party of Indiana spoke at the convention. Attendees of the Morgan County Libertarian Convention include (from left) Barry Jackson, Dara Jackson, Jennifer Meador, Kristin Alexander, Danny Lundy, Sandy Lundy, Anna Elliott and Arthur Slatinsky.

Appointees weigh in on new posts

At the first meeting of the year on Jan. 2, the town council made three new appointments. Councilwoman Jessica Hester was appointed to the Mooresville Planning Commission, councilman Dustin Stanley was appointed to the Mooresville Redevelopment Commission (RDC) and citizen Danny Lundy was appointed to the Mooresville Police Commission.
