Main break causing discolored water
MOORESVILLE – A precautionary boil water advisory has been issued for approximately 35 customers in Mooresville, according to Joe Loughmiller, spokesman for Indiana American Water Company. Customers may see some discolored water over the next day or so in the areas surrounding a main break that occurred Wednesday near Indiana and Moore streets.
Mooresville district superintendent Troy Bryant said, “Although we have issued a boil water advisory for about 35 customers in areas surrounding the main break, some customers outside this area may notice their water is discolored as a result of the break. We are in the process of flushing the discolored water out of the Mooresville system by opening fire hydrants at strategic locations. In the meantime, however, if customers notice their drinking water is discolored, we are advising them to open several water cold-water faucets and allow the water to run until it clears before running their dishwasher or washing machine to avoid staining.”
“We apologize for any inconvenience this situation is causing for our Mooresville customers,” Bryant said. “We appreciate their patience as we work to get everything back to normal as quickly as possible.”
All customers affected by the boil water advisory were notified in person by company staff on Wednesday afternoon. Approximately a dozen customers were without water on Wednesday evening in the area immediately surrounding the main break. Service to these customers was expected to be restored by approximately 9 p.m. on Wednesday evening.
Indiana American Water serves a total of approximately 3,700 customers or a population of 8,600 in its Mooresville service area. Customers can call the Indiana American Water Customer Service Center at 800-492-8373 for the latest updates.
