In short it’s quite simple: Don’t hurt people & don’t take their stuff. If you aren’t hurting anyone or taking their stuff, then the government probably should not be involved.
The Libertarian Party is based on the philosophy of Liberty. That’s the belief that no other person can have a higher claim on your Life, your Liberty, and your Property than you. Likewise, you cannot have a higher claim on anyone else’s Life, Liberty, or Property either.
Another common tenet of Libertarian philosophy is The Non-Aggression Principle (NAP). The NAP is a concept in which aggression, defined as initiating or threatening any forceful interference with either an individual or their property, is inherently wrong. In contrast to pacifism, the NAP does not forbid forceful defense.
